In this way, Brain Armor kills no animals and is environmentally friendly.
Why does Brain Armor contain a higher level of DHA than it does EPA?
Brain Armor is built, first and foremost, for the brain. With this in mind, the brain has a much higher content of DHA than it does EPA which makes DHA the most important Omega-3 for optimal brain health. While EPA is also very important, its level in the brain is far less than DHA. For these reasons, we have chosen to go with a 2:1 ratio of DHA to EPA.

What is the endocannabinoid system?
The endocannabinoid system or ECS is a molecular system within our body and primarily in our brains that consists of endocannabinoids, enzymes that regulate their production and degradation, and the various receptors that receive the messages transmitted from the various endocannabinoids. The primary role of our body’s endocannabinoid system is in the maintenance of homeostasis.
What is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of numerous naturally occurring Phytocannabinoids found in hemp extract. CBD has been shown to have tremendous benefits to both humans and animals by positively affecting nearly every pathway within the ECS. CBD is non-intoxicating and possesses a number of therapeutic applications to both human and animal health.
Can CBD get me high?
No. CBD is non-intoxicating and non-psychoactive.
What are the benefits received from taking CBD?
Due to the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA), it is not allowable for us to make any claims on how CBD or Hemp affects the body. However, there are numerous studies, articles and anecdotal evidence available to help one understand how they may benefit from using a CBD product like Brain Armor R3.
Is CBD from hemp as potent as the CBD found in marijuana?
Yes it is! CBD is CBD, no matter which species of cannabis it is derived from. Our body has no way of knowing where the CBD came from. It only knows how to use CBD in its various physiological roles within the ECS.
What is the entourage effect?
The entourage effect refers to the greatly enhanced synergistic benefits received from ingesting the whole plant extract as compared to only ingesting CBD isolate. There is a tremendous physiological advantage to using all of the different Phytocannabinoids, terpenes, terpinoids and flavonoids found in cannabis when using hemp extract as a way to optimize health and wellbeing.
Can you tell me what makes a good CBD and a not so good product?
This question requires a bit of explanation because there are a couple of factors that really determine a good CBD product. They are as follows:
- Broad Spectrum and not an Isolate. The single most important factor that determines how good a CBD containing product is, is to make sure the product contains a broad-spectrum, standardized Hemp extract and not a CBD Isolate. CBD Isolates have been shown to completely lose their beneficial effects within a very short period of time after beginning use. Broad-spectrum extracts that contain the full variety of Phytocannabinoids, terpinoids, terpenes and flavonoids found in the cannabis plant, while possessing a THC content below the 0.3% allowable limit, have been shown to maintain effectiveness throughout the timeframe in which the product is used. The reason is due to a phenomenon called “The Entourage Effect”. This effect is tremendously important to our body’s endocannabinoid system and makes sure the entire complement of medicinal compounds found in the plant can impart their effects on every pathway modulated by the ECS.
- Source matters! The second major factor is the source material. Many products are labeled indicating the presence of CBD, but actually only contain it in trace amounts. We use a broad-spectrum, standardized extract that is standardized to contain 18% CBD. This ensures our product users are getting the full physiological dosage of 25mgs of CBD along with all the other medicinal compounds. If a product does not clearly show BOTH the amount of total Phytocannabinoids and total CBD specifically, then you have to believe it is either an Isolate or is simply Hemp oil. Hemp oil is typically processed and purified and actually contains very few Phytocannabinoids.
Should I take Brain Armor with a meal?
What is the best time of day to consume Brain Armor?
There isn’t a specific time of day but we would recommend consuming Brain Armor with a meal. There are a few reasons:
- Many individuals find that Omega-3 supplements are more easily tolerated with food

Does the marine algae or algal oil in Brain Armor products contain mercury or other heavy metals?
The algal oil is produced in facilitates that specialize in the production and refinement of Omega-3s from algae. The process begins with the initial algae cell culture and results in highly purified Omega-3 oil. The microalgae (Schizochytrium sp) are grown in closed fermentors then harvested and processed to extract the clear, amber-colored oil rich in DHA and EPA Omega-3s. It is a highly-controlled process that results in a consistent product with low or non-detectable levels of mercury and other heavy metals. In fact, Brain Armor batch analysis results for mercury test at less than 0.005 ppm (parts per million).
The ingredients say glycerin. Is that animal derived or plant?
The glycerin is 100% vegetable based.
Why does Brain Armor R3 have significantly less DHA and EPA than our regular Brain Armor?
Brain Armor Concentrate and Softgels have a very specific targeted functionality towards building/improving the structural integrity of brain cells. The Brain Armor R3 has the targeted functionality of strengthening and toning the endocannabinoid system, which is also found in the brain. We include Omega-3s as a component of the R3 because of the synergies gained by combining the Omega-3s with the Phytocannabinoids found in the cannabis extract.

Why does Brain Armor include DHA & EPA Omega-3 fatty acids?
A large body of scientific research suggests that increasing the amount of dietary DHA & EPA Omega-3s have a number of health benefits. However, most people aren't consuming enough and these essential fatty-acids are difficult to achieve through diet alone.
Just as calcium is essential for building strong bones, DHA & EPA ensure that the cells in the brain, eyes, heart and other parts of the nervous system develop and function properly through all stages of life.* Clinically supported benefits of DHA and EPA Omega-3s include:
- Supports healthy brain function*
- Promotes healthy eyes and vision*
- Enhances cardiovascular function and circulation*
- Lowers resting heart rate*
- Increased blood flow & oxygen delivery to the muscles*
- Improves complex reaction time*
- Improved protein synthesis*
Why does Brain Armor have a 2:1 ratio of DHA to EPA in its formulation when virtually every other product has a much higher level of EPA over DHA?
Brain Armor’s formula includes a higher level of DHA over EPA because of our focus on optimizing brain health and brain function.* When you look at the composition of Omega-3s in the brain, DHA is quantitatively the most important Omega-3s making up over 90% of the total Omega-3s found in the brain. DHA also plays very important roles in the structural integrity of brain cells, membrane fluidity, cell signaling, memory function and neurotransmission.*
Why does Brain Armor include Vitamin D?
It is estimated that as much as 80% of the US population are vitamin D deficient and very few foods contain significant amounts of this vitamin so it is difficult to attain through diet alone.
Vitamin D (calciferol) contributes to the normal development and maintenance of bones and teeth, muscle function, and the immune system.*
Why does Brain Armor include Vitamin E?
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant uniquely suited to intercepting the damaging effects of oxidation by free radicals and thus preventing lipid destruction in cell membranes including the brain.*
Why does Brain Armor Include MCT oil?
MCT or Medium Chain Triglycerides are healthy saturated fats that are easily digested and utilized for energy, especially in the brain. MCT is also utilized by our brain cell’s mitochondria to increase metabolic activity and increase production of cellular ATP. In Brain Armor, MCT’s also act to improve the absorption rate of the DHA, EPA, vitamin D and E.*
Why is carrageenan listed as an ingredient in Brain Armor softgels and not the liquid concentrate?
A small amount of carrageenan (extracted from red seaweed) is used as a thickening agent to form the protective vegetarian softgel outer shell. Carrageenan is certified organic, vegan friendly and performs better in this application versus alternative or synthetic compounds.
Does Brain Armor contain marine-derived Omega-3s?
The Omega-3s found in Brain Armor are vegan and derived from a marine source of algae. This is different from other plant-based sources of Omega-3s which primarily consist of the Omega-3 fatty acid, ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). ALA is not active in the body and must be converted to DHA and EPA to be active. Unfortunately, the conversion of ALA to EPA and DHA is very inefficient with only a very small percentage actually being converted, which makes ALA a poor choice of Omega-3s to support brain health and brain function. *
