Fortify your athletes with Brain Armor at the 2018 CPSDA Annual National Conference

There is no question that advanced nutrition programs improve the performance, health and well-being of all collegiate, professional, tactical and even recreational athletes. With the support of Sports Dietitians, even the most elite athletes can grow stronger, run farther, and jump higher. For some athletes that means winning a season, and for others, that means completing a mission and returning home safe. The role that nutrition plays in the performance and safety of athletes is undisputed. Along with robust physical health, there is increasing emphasis on optimizing cognitive health in athletes. Brain Armor products provide all the nutrients necessary to support brain health in one useful package.

In a recent Study of over 400 Collegiate Athletes it was found that 99%> were deficient in Omega-3s. Brain Armor Pro products provide Omega-3 fatty acids at a 2:1 ratio of 2,000mg DHA and 1,000mg EPA. Brain Armor goes even further by including Vitamin D & E, and Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) oil to increase absorption and deliver anti-oxidants to protect brain cells from oxidative damage. Reliable research has demonstrated that these nutrients decrease post-exercise muscle soreness, perceived pain, and intense exercise. Studies with elite athletes have further demonstrated improvements in immune health and enhanced neuromuscular development with Omega-3 supplementation. Furthermore, there are clear performance improvements in athletes with exercise-induced bronchoconstriction. Every type of athlete could benefit from these health outcomes, regardless of the arena.

When it comes to combat athletes, both at home and overseas, mission-readiness and resilience is imperative. US service members have been shown to have lower levels of Omega-3s than their civilian counterparts, and a recent survey has shown the average intake of EPA and DHA sources of US service members to be 301mg/d, when the American Dietetic Association recommends a minimum of 500mg/day.   Military personnel regularly perform multifaceted cognitive tasks under demanding circumstances including war-zone stressors, sleep deprivation, and intense physical or mental exertion. Omega-3 supplementation has exhibited improvements in complex reaction time and efficiency in elite athletes, which could be the vital to success when decision making is required.

Furthermore, it is critical to identify strategies that protect athletes from cognitive complications when they return from war or retire off of the field. Decrements in brain health accompanied by depression and anxiety are common in this population and there is research that demonstrates that Omega-3 supplementation can alleviate some of these symptoms and improve cognitive outcomes.

Brain Armor Pro supplements are made for athletes and used by champions on and off the field. Brain Armor is proud to be the Brain Supplement of choice for the University of Wyoming, Pop Warner Little Scholars, Pro Football Legends, and the CPSDA.
