Brain Armor Sponsors and Impresses at The AFCA Convention
On the heels of Brain Armor and the University of Wyoming announcing their parnership, Brain Armor sponsored and attended the flagship event for the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) in Nashville, TN, January 8th - 11th. The annual AFCA Convention features over 200 vendors and some high profile speakers from the world of football lecturing on topics like player safety, X's and O's, and career development to the nearly 6,000 high school, college, and professional coaches in attendance.
The convention was an exciting time for Brain Armor. We were finally able to unveil to the football world that Brain Armor will be partnering with University of Wyoming Athletics to help support the healthy and well-being of their 400 student athletes.
In addition, Brain Armor was able to demonstrate two new products launching in Spring 2017. The first being a Brain Armor Liquid Concentrate delivering over 1500 mg of DHA in just one 5ml serving. And second, the Brain Armor Hydration Stick Packs, the only complete sports hydration mix including DHA Omega-3.
The liquid concentrate was of particular interest to the dozens of high school coaches we met, as they believe the younger athletes will prefer those over the current SoftGel capsules. These examples just illustrated the excitement adn mentum Brain Armor is carrying into 2017.
With products like weight equipment, new helmets, custom locker rooms, and even remote controlled tackling dummies in attendence, trying to stand out to the coaches was intially an uphill task. However, one the bright lights wore off, coaches soon realized that Brain Armor was not just another supplement.
We educated coaches on Brain Armor and the importance of DHA Omega-3 for their athletes. We mentioned how DHA represents 97% of the Omega-3s in our brains and 93% in our eyes. That our bodies produce very little DHA naturally so we need to replenish these cells with what we consume. The usual questions on why we were an algae-based Omega-3 came up as we reminded folks Omega-3s do not come from fish but from the food the fish eat (algae). Therefore, by bypassing fish, Brain Armor is a richer source of DHA.
It was interesting to see the coach's reactions when we discussed which two preeminent neurosurgeons are a part of the Brain Armor Medical Advisory Board, Dr. Julian Bailes and Dr. Neilank Jha, mentioning Dr. Bailes was the character portrayed by Alec Baldwin in the recent Will Smith movie "Concussion" which many of the coaches have seen.
Overall, we had a great time meeting so many football coaches from around the country. It was fun to see everyone understand the importance of DHA Omega-3 for their athletes. And refreshing to hear so many schools, even those with limited budgets, beginning to allocate more and more of their budgets and placing an emphasis on the health and safety of their players.
As one coach mentioned, "Over the last five years, it's become more important about what goes inside [the athlete] not just what's on the outside."
Thank you to all the coaches and for the AFCA for having us. We can't wait for next year's convention in Charlotte, NC.
